eSIM compatible phones

Most phones from the last five years support eSIM, but not all of them, and not every version sold in every country. Check yours below before you buy a plan. List last checked 3 October 2026.

Check your phone in 30 seconds

iPhone: open Settings, then General, then About. If you see an entry called EID, your iPhone supports eSIM.

Android: dial *#06#. If the screen shows an EID number, your phone supports eSIM. You can also look in Settings under About phone, then SIM status.

Your phone also has to be unlocked

A phone that's locked to your carrier can only use that carrier's SIMs, including eSIMs. On an iPhone, go to Settings, then General, then About, and look for Carrier Lock: "No SIM restrictions" means it's unlocked. On Android, ask your carrier. Phones you've paid off are usually unlocked on request.

Exceptions to know about

  • iPhones sold in mainland China generally don't have eSIM, and neither do some models sold in Hong Kong and Macao.
  • Some regional versions of Samsung's FE models don't support eSIM, even though other versions do.
  • Phones bought through a carrier may have eSIM switched off until they're unlocked.
